Crocidile state gets Crocs ad account
Boulder-based Crocs walked its advertising account to Zimmerman of Fort Lauderdale according to Ad Age. TDA of Boulder was agency of record. Crispin Porter, new to Colorado’s ‘People’s Republic,’ was also passed over. Zimmerman won because of its focus on the clogs’ technology, not the shoes.
"According to TNS Media Intelligence, Crocs spent $2.2 million on measured media for the first nine months of 2006. With $500 million in sales predicted for 2007, Zimmerman could be looking at as much as $25 million in spending across all media should Crocs keep up with the 3% to 5% ad spending trend across the shoe industry."Ad Age: Zimmerman Wins Crocs Shoes Ad Account, By Brooke Capps Published: January 16, 2007

i think tda got the best part of the deal...
and cp+b, too.
everyone says not to stuff your feelings, get it all out. (i like the new kleenex ads, btw). but i always have to hide my scorn for those who wear bad loafers in public. the same for crocs. i for one wouldn't want those people as my target audience.
andy
sigh. another account sets sail out of colorado. and, of course, negative articles fly out of both the post and the news for all colo biz to see. what about the accounts Denver/Boulder agencies land out of state? did they make a big deal when mcclain scored budget truck rental? or when praco bested minny shops for xcel? or tda took chipotle from mother?
we need to show colorado companies that great thinkers and great talent is in their backyard. we need the pr to juice it up.
