Calling all freelance proofers

My resolution for 2008: Have all of my copy proofed.

As the final step before any writing is published, I recommend that my clients have an outside proofer/copy editor, someone who has not been involved with the project, to look at copy with their fresh eyes.

I've found that most corporate clients -- even a lot of design firms -- don't have a consistent practice for proofing copy. Yet the impression you're trying to make, not to mention the energy and money spent, can be destroyed with little (or big) mistakes.

At the top of my wish list for the new year: I'd like to start including a budget for proofing in all of my proposals. If you know of anyone who can quickly glance at copy and catch typos, spelling and unintentional grammar errors, e-mail a tip to me at andy [at] andybosselman.com or post your own 411 in a comment here. If you've got a rate per page or hourly rate, let us know that, too.

Hi Andy,

I am a local copywriter and would be more than happy to proof your copy. Give me a call at 303-460-0285 and we can discuss.

Hello.
If it's basic proofing you're looking for, and this doesn't include copy editing, I charge $3.50 per page. I'm an inexperienced copywriter but an excellent proofer. Thanks for your time.
